Sustainability Statement

As an independent holiday let business in Shropshire and personally managed, we know how important it is to recognise the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. We work closely with our guests and local businesses to ensure we operate as sustainably and responsibly as we can. We support the local community by employing housekeepers and local trades, buying locally wherever possible.

We continuously work to reduce the use of single-use plastics in our holiday cottages. Both of our properties offer complimentary toiletries, in refillable dispensers. The toiletries suppliers used are committed to sustainability and are not tested on animals and supply their products in refillable containers.

In both cottages we ask our guests to be environmentally mindful during their stay, asking them to turn off lights and appliances when not needed. We encourage guests to buy local products and have days out without the car, using local transport and walking. We provide guests with detailed walking guides for their enjoyment. Energy-saving devices are used where possible and energy-efficient remotely controllable heating systems are utilised to help to avoid excessive, unnecessary waste of energy.

Guests are asked to separate their waste into our clearly signed recycling bins, general waste bins and food waste is put into separate compositing bins that are collected weekly.

We provide biodegradable poop bags for guests staying with dogs.

The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust is local to the area and can supply charcoal for use on the BBQ’s.

We have wildflower sections planted throughout the gardens, bird boxes and bird baths to encourage wildlife.

Before guests arrive, we provide recommendations of local eating places and a link to our website where we promote local attractions and amenities. We actively promote the many independent businesses local to the area to our guests.
